Chemical species: Definition
Chemical species are atoms, molecules, ions, or any composition of atoms that are
in a chemical reaction, chemical process or under measurement. It is a chemical
entity that can be identified through spectroscopic experiments. Identifying a single
species often requires more than one type of instrument to reveal all of the species
present, such as a pair of enantiomers of a compound.
